A TRIP THAT HATCHED FROM NOWHERE

After a year of procrastination and lazing around, I finally sit in front of the system to pen down the best and cheapest trip of my life so far. Yeah! It was my life in Hyderabad that made me realize how much I love to travel and it makes me relieve of the tensions of submissions, dissertation, exams and the biggest concern about the uncertain future. But before diving to the story of my trip, let me be clear about what is my idea of traveling. For me, it is nothing but a change of surroundings, scenes and people. Be it to a nearby city or a district or a state, it should offer something new and take me from the monotony.
So, here we go.....

What do girls in a hostel do more often? Discuss fashion? their bfs? or bitch about others? The list goes on. We do many things and we talk a lot. A lot actually. You would see us discussing how the earring seller did not give us discount even after bargaining for an hour and would also listen us talking of how the theories of Derrida or Freud ruined our life in the very next second.

In between such a discussion, one of us asked, "Why don't we plan a trip to Hampi?" (Hampi plans of our group  are equivalent to the classic Goa plans of the country) All of our ears are so used to this question that we did not even bother to think of that because who would go to Hampi in March in 37 degree Celsius? We could not even endure the temperature inside our hostels in Hyderabad then. So, the thought of even going for a trip to Hampi at that point of time itself made us sweat. Going back to our respective rooms, this thought lit up a different part of my thinking cells. Why can't we go there now? It's only 37 degree Celsius in Hampi and back in our hometown it is nearing to 40. Above all, the best justification was that the trip to such a place in the summer would actually gain us as the off season factor could be utilized for bargaining.

A click away were all the details related to Hampi; videos in YouTube, blogs written on the things to do, where to travel, how to find places of stay after reaching there instead of online booking and many more. So, the next thing to do was to create a WhatsApp group and add as many interested people as  possible so that at least a few would remain till the trip :D

On 4th March 2018, we created the whatsapp group and started planning or rather questioning. We had only questions in the group.
Are we going? How many? When? How? Will we get tickets? Will we get accommodation if gone without booking?
and who knew the answers to these questions? NONE of us.
Thanks to the word "maybe" "chances" "hope so" as they saved us from further explanations.
Finally, we did check the train tickets for 8th March 2018 but alas!
There were no tickets available and could see no chance of getting a confirmed ticket even if we book in waiting list. The only option was to travel in general compartment and book the return tickets in waiting list. Now that the question of traveling is settled, the return tickets were to be booked but for how many? Who all are coming? At times, people are so confused that they do not even realize what they want to do. The excitement and enthusiasm one shows in the first few hours of a trip planning settles by the time of booking tickets. Confusions, tensions and panic strike us along with so many silly and stupid doubts.

(to be continued)

  2. I was a part of the trip. One of the most cherished memories of my life. And now I can proudly say, " Been there, done that". And it all began from that single thought,"Why can't we go there now"? and your love for travel.
